July Highlights

July was a month to celebrate in our house - and not just with fireworks!

7/9 - grabbed a rattle for the first time

7/9 - first Gymboree class.  Both Bryon and I tagged along with Maks to experience his first class in a group setting.  Go figure, Maks made me nervous by only taking 3 little half hour naps throughout the day (as opposed to his usual 3-4 hour "long" nap and 2 additional 1-2 hour "short" naps).  Maks fell asleep just as we arrived at the Gymboree parking lot.  He was not thrilled to be woken up when class officially started, but he woke up and did great!  Even though Maks was the youngest child in the class by a good 2 months (4 other kids), he made it through the entire 45 minute class!  He finally fell asleep on the way home and slept for 12 hours straight!

7/21 - Maks' favorite song is officially "You are My Sunshine."  Bryon sings this on repeat, over and over again.  No other song seems to do the trick.  When we need to calm Maks down, it's time for the Sunshine Song.  I can just see his little 2 month old eyes shouting, "Daddy, Daddy!  Sing the Sunshine Song!"  I'm hoping we can retire this tune sometime soon and move on to something new.  Anything new.

Misc.:
3rd visitor - Grandpa Ralph traveled down from Cherokee to hang out for a couple of days

Maks started playing in his doorway jumper

1st time in the automotive shop; he helped his Daddy install brand new brakes and rotors!  What a little mechanic!

Loves watching his Daddy.  Maks thinks Bryon is absolutely hilarious, ALL OF THE TIME.

Always needs to be standing (He has always wanted to stand instead of be held.  In fact, he has never allowed a cradle hold at all.  He needs to be held on a shoulder so he can be upright and see what's going on!).

No longer likes going in the car seat at all (NOT for a walk and NOT for a drive).  Unfortunately, the car no longer calms him.

Look who's 3 months old!

Talk about a good day!  Honestly, this was probably the most enjoyable day since Maks' birth.  Start to finish, it was wonderful.  My good friend, Jackie, always told me to hang in there until Maks was 12 weeks old.  She was spot-on!

It is Maks' 3 month birthday and he started the day off right by rolling over from his belly onto his back.  I wasn't fortunate enough to see the very first roll that Maks did back at 7-8 weeks old, so this was my first time catching him in the act!

We survived LOTS of tummy time (I have no idea why he seems to suddenly enjoy this), threw the ball outside for Kira, went out for dinner to celebrate (everybody loves seeing a diapered baby stomp on the tabletop, right?), and watched the Olympics.

Maks loves seeing the color and movement on the tv.

GOLD!

  Happy 3 month, little man!

Mama loves you!
